Rosen Law Firm files a class action lawsuit against CD Projekt Red

The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 of CD Projekt Red was reportedly mired by a host of problems, most of which affected the performance of video game on last gen consoles like the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. In addition to the massive repercussion from consumers, the developers are now dealing with legal issues.

A leading New York-based law firm, Rosen Law Firm, has allegedly filed a lawsuit on behalf of buyers, claiming defilements of the federal securities law. A lawyer further stated that CD Projekt Red made wrongful claims regarding the recently launched video game. In particular, that the developer failed to alert consumers that Cyberpunk 2077 cannot effectively be played on last-gen consoles. A category has not been certified.

The lawsuit mentions conference calls, one of which was held in January. In the call, Adam Kicinski, President and joint CEO of CD Projekt Red assured buyers that there have been no problems with the last gen model of Cyberpunk 2077, asserting instead that it only required optimizations. The amount that CD Projekt Red would have to pay regarding the damages has not yet been disclosed.

Along with the class action, CD Projekt Red is at present facing numerous potential lawsuits over Cyberpunk 2077, from both Poland and the U.S. The developer has delivered several statements, making an apology for the video game as well as promising last-gen console consumers that upcoming patches would aid in improving the overall experience.

The problems have induced many users to seek refunds from retailers. CD Projekt Red had earlier suggested that it intends to address the problems and have the video game return to the PlayStation Store. Despite the present scenario, the Polish developer has stated that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold approximately 13 million copies across the world, not counting refunded video games.
