India-based digital wallet platform and online payment company- PhonePe has reportedly announced its partnership with Hyderabad Metro (L&T Metro Rail) to offer contactless, safe and frictionless payment solutions to commuters across the city.

In addition to the above, this transaction will also help the authorities to handle the operations in a smooth and organized manner.

Notably, commuters can now book their QR-based tickets through the PhonePe Switch platform. Following this, users can scan the e-ticket on their smartphones at the entry and exit points of the Metro station to complete their journey.

Speaking along similar lines, through this offering, PhonePe aims at providing contactless payment services to the commuters, consequently controlling the spread of coronavirus infection.

Under the alliance with Hyderabad Metro, PhonePe will extend three main services to the users. These include booking of tickets via PhonePe Switch, scan and pay at the Metro station counter in exchange for tokens, and recharge of the physical smart card on the Switch platform.

Under the Taxi and Metro Category, the Hyderabad Metro icon will be visible. Users must simply enter their origin and destination station and make the required payment through Debit/Credit card or UPI/ PhonePe wallet.

After the payment is done, a digital QR code will be generated which the commuters must scan at the entry and exit gates of the Metro station.
