In the fast-paced world we find ourselves in today, we often overlook the value of gratitude when someone does something nice for us. It makes no difference what that “nice” is, it is normally something that we either did not expect or were surprised when we received it.
This could be a client referral, some customer recognition or just sending a note to someone you met on the airplane, the subway, at the airport, ball park, or grocery store.
Our experience has been to always send a hand written thank you note for almost everything. If we have a client make a referral, give a testimonial, comment on some work we have accomplished, we ensure that a thank you note is sent! Here’s what happens next:
The recipient of the thank you note is surprised that you took the time to express your gratitude for whatever the task was. He/she is even more surprised that you took the time to hand write (or print, if you forgot cursive writing) to share your thoughts with them.
Each time you send a thank you note, handwritten and sincerely, you will make the recipient feel good, enjoy the interaction, and glad they did whatever act it was that engendered you to write the note.
Try it today. When someone, anyone does something nice for you, send them a thank you note. You can go to the store and buy inexpensive thank you cards, or, like we do, have engraved company cards we use. The medium of transmission is NOT important. What is important is that you took the time to say “Thanks!” You will be amazed at the results you achieve.
