If you happen to have a trip planned to Southern Norway anytime soon, and if you’ve always fancied the idea of dining more than ten feet underwater, it appears that you’re in luck.
The world’s largest underwater restaurant — the aptly titled, “Under” — just opened in Lindesnes, Norway. (In Norwegian, “under” means both “below” and “wonder.”)
From Visit Norway:
- In fact, Under is the world’s largest underwater restaurant with seating capacity for 100 guests. On normal nights it will serve 40 guests.
- This wonder at Lindesnes is also the first underwater restaurant in Europe.
- Several research environments that are focused on the development of knowledge within marine biology are involved so as to provide guests with an enhanced experience.
“We’ll attract tourists from all over the world. That is our goal,” said Gaute Ubostad, one of the project’s founders.
With panoramic views of rugged sea life to gaze at while you enjoy your meal, Ubostad’s goal seems very much in reach.
